Become an Elf
Not all of Santa's elves wear elf costumes. Most of them just help where they can, preparing meals for visitors to Santa's Village, serving food, wrapping presents, making cookies, supervising activities like miniature golf and cookie decorating, supervising movies, etc.   Anything that needs to be done. The only requirement is a cheerful countenance and a vibrant attitude.

Our costumed elves dress and act their part. They assist Santa with activities at Santa's Children Christmas Village and with visits to Hospitals and other locations. They actively entertain our guests through songs and games. They assist Santa as he gives gifts to children. They bring a smiling face to everyone around.

We want to make Santa's Village attractive and safe for everyone. We are renovating every room and hallway in the building. This includes scraping all the walls, moving chalkboards, painting, decorating, and general cleanup. We also have a lot of major improvements planned, including carpentry, electrical, and plumbing projects. We need a major upgrade to our kitchen facilities to accommodate groups visiting us.

Santa's visits programs include visiting children in Hospitals and in their homes, as well as bringing larger groups to our facility. When larger groups visit us, like the Open Door Mission visit in December 2005, we need a lot of assistance.

In the near future we will need volunteers will help receive, store and distribute the K.I.D.S. products for partnering children's charities and Fire Departments. As shipments of donated products arrive, volunteers will contact our partner organizations informing them of items available and determining their needs for those products. Depending on each partner organization's situation, Santa's Children will either arrange for immediate delivery or store the products in our 30,000-square foot facility. As time permits, items will be listed on our web site www.santaschildren.org where partners can review products and order on line.

Read about Santa's Volunteers
Over 75 volunteers have helped at our headquarters in Macedonia, Iowa since we began moving there in 2005. Our main strategy for building renovations is to use volunteers for as much work as possible, especially for scraping, painting, and decorating. This way we build partnerships with people in communities in the area and we reduce our cash expenditures.

Our volunteers have painted walls, set up displays, and decorated trees.

This painted wall is found in the Olde Chocolate Factory. The table and tree are found in the gift room.

One of our volunteers contacted the Mechanical Engineering Department at the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO), which then decided to do a study of Santa's Village as a class project for the entire Spring 2006 semester. They along with the Electrical, Architectural and Construction Engineering Departments will be assisting in the design and recommendation process of the Santa's Village Building Renovation project.

I want to Volunteer too!
